POSITION SUMMARY The Registered Nurse (RN) is a direct-care professional responsible for delivering comprehensive clinical nursing care, patient assessment, and care coordination within Marianas Health Services. Depending on operational assignments, the incumbent will be deployed either within the Homecare Unit or the Outpatient Clinic (Sagan Hinemlo Family Clinic).
The Registered Nurse applies nursing theory and the nursing process in accordance with the CNMI Nurse Practice Act and agency policies. Key responsibilities include evaluating client needs, administering prescribed treatments and medications, conducting clinical assessments, executing physician orders, and collaborating with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to promote optimal health outcomes and patient safety across care settings
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
● General Clinical Nursing Care:
○ Perform client assessments applying standard nursing principles and a holistic approach considering physical, psychological, and socioeconomic needs.
○ Administer medications, vaccinations, biologicals, and clinical treatments in accordance with physician orders, established clinical protocols, and nursing scope of practice.
○ Observe for and identify overt and subtle signs of physiological or psychological changes, taking independent responsive action and notifying physicians or clinical supervisors as appropriate.
○ Initiate and complete Verbal Orders (VO) and other required clinical documentation to carry out physician directives.
○ Provide health education, disease management instruction, and self-care counseling to patients and caregivers.
● Quality, Compliance, and Safety:
○ Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential electronic medical records adhering strictly to HIPAA guidelines, agency standards, and regulatory requirements.
○ Demonstrate safe practice in the use of medical equipment and enforce infection control protocols across all clinical environments.
○ Participate in the Quality Improvement Program (QAPI), clinical audits, and ongoing quality monitoring initiatives.
○ Respond to clinical emergencies or changes in patient stability following established emergency response protocols.

Setting-Specific Clinical Focus:
Homecare Unit Focus
○ In-Home Assessment & Care: Conduct comprehensive in-home nursing assessments, evaluate environmental safety, and initiate/complete required OASIS documentation (Start of Care, Recertification, Resumption of Care, Discharge).
○ Care Plan Execution & Interdisciplinary Care: Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and social services to formulate and maintain home health plans of care.
○ Team Supervision: Direct, supervise, and conduct required supervisory field visits over Home Health Aides (every 14 days), Personal Care Assistants, and LPNs.
○ On-Call Support: Provide scheduled on-call nursing support for homebound clients per agency needs.Outpatient Clinic Focus (Sagan Hinemlo Family Clinic)
○ Ambulatory Triage & Intake: Conduct initial patient intake, measure vital signs, review medical histories, perform health screenings, and prioritize client flow based on acuity.
○ Provider Assistance & Diagnostic Procedures: Assist physicians and mid-level providers with diagnostic exams, minor procedures, wound care, and specimen collections.
○ Clinic Operations & Care Coordination: Manage clinic appointment follow-ups, laboratory/diagnostic result tracking, prescription refills, and communication of physician instructions to patients.
○ Inventory & Supplies: Assist in monitoring medication inventories, vaccine storage logs, and medical supply readiness.
Outpatient Clinic Focus (Sagan Hinemlo Family Clinic)
○ Ambulatory Triage & Intake: Conduct initial patient intake, measure vital signs, review medical histories, perform health screenings, and prioritize client flow based on acuity.
○ Provider Assistance & Diagnostic Procedures: Assist physicians and mid-level providers with diagnostic exams, minor procedures, wound care, and specimen collections.
